I thought i would post some pics of a transmission that came to my shop last year for a rebuild, This was the first time seeing somthing like this lol This trans was still in the car but had no case. This was also a stock unit behind a H/C ls1

I have seen a couple units like this posted on the net before and I had one in the shop years ago that the most of the case was still intact. I feel that this happens when the input drum literally explodes. Look at the picture it seems to be missing. I think what happens is pieces of the input drum get lodged between the sunshell and the case. When this happens everything wants to come out. Thanks for the picture. Vince

he was probably doing neutral drops or reverse to drive slams,,that looks awful lol

I blew the one up in the truck some what like that, output shaft exploded and case was in 4 pieces. I took the crossmember off, and half of the trans came with it.
