I am looking to pick up a 700R4/4L60 from a 93 T/A and install it into my 97 with a 3200 stall. What if any modifications will have to be done to make this happen. I know that the 4L60/700R4 is not electronically controlled, would this work with the 97 harness?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

 

You will need a different throttle body or some type of adaptation for the TV cable. You will also need some sort of lockup control set up as the 97 electronics are not compatible in any way. I am not sure why you would want to make this swap it is a step backwards from the 4L60E you have . IMO you would be far wiser to get the correct trans for your car

 

I currently have the correct trans in the car, just needs some work to it and i thought the 700R4 was a better trans.

 

No the 700r4 is not a better trans its actually the same trans except its hydraulically controlled instead of PCM controlled.
The 60E however does have some improvements over the 700r4 and the ability to easily program shift timing, lockup etc is definitely a step forward. I would not replace a 4l60e with a 700r4.
