Oil Consumption
Without a baseline consumption record for comparison's sake, it's hard to say, although depending on the heads (and porting done to them) you are more than likely pulling oil in through the rocker arm mounting bolt holes or through poorly sealing valve guide seals (or both).
Porting (on a cathedral port head) generally exposes the bolt hole to the intake port and if not properly sealed, oil will pass through to the combustion chamber.
Leaking valve guide seals are either damaged during their installation or are of inferior quality (read: cheap) .
3000 miles is not very bad oil consumption though, especially if you do a search on what has happened to other folk's cars after a mod.
