Default New Guy

Hey Guys,

I just picked up an '05 two weeks ago - Been lurking ever since and figured it's time to sign on. Traded my '09 Cobalt SS and definitely don't miss it.

Bought it off e-bay from Florida. One owner car. Apparently it spent it's first 5 years in a garage in Ohio, then was traded to the dealer in Florida for some 100mph speedboat. Best part - 1,380 miles - and it looks it! Stock as a rock until last week when I bought the skip-shift eliminator. Not 100% sure what options were available back in '05, but I think the only one I don't have is the sunroof. The original owner did the wing and the other 'thing' at the top of the rear glass. I do like the way they look though.

It'll be my DD, so mods will be minimal. I start work early in the AM(like 3-4am), so the exhaust has to remain quiet(My Viper is loud enough to annoy the neighbors ), but I think I would like a shifter. The stocker has some really long throws - B&M? Maybe a CAI and Tune down the road? No plans to race it and burnouts will be kept to a minimum. Tuesday it gets State Inspection/Emissions and I'll be purchasing a 3/36 Bumper2Bumper GM Warranty as well. It's just nice to have a real car to drive everyday. The Cobalt, even though it performs well, is not much of a car IMO.

Mike

Very nice! Congrats! Is there anyway to remove that "thing" from the rear window?

welcome to the club/family.

dont be affraid to do the exhaust, most of the ones (with mufflers) i have heard dont get too load until you hit higher rpm. and even then, it wont be near as load as that V10 monster you have.

shifter, go with the B&M or Katech.

Not sure how it's attached? I see no screws. Maybe double-sided tape or some type of adhesive. Doesn't matter as (for now) I like the way it looks.

lol, yeah. Thanks.

Honestly my first choice would've been the Light Platinum. My last two DD's were silver and you just can't beat it for an outside car. Even when they're dirty they look good.

I would've been here two months ago if the 13K mile LP '07 didn't selll 30 minutes before I got to the dealership.

Thanks!

Maybe in time I'll research exhaust options, but for now I'll check out those shifters. I thought my stock Viper shifter was long, but I think this one is longer. Defintely more 'rubbery' - It's gotta go...

I have HF Cats and Corsa Track on my Viper(Along with Air Filter/Mopar PCM/3.55 gears). It's pretty mellow at cruise, but when I open it up it's got a nice V10 scream.

30. On the high side for an '05, but when you consider the (lack of) mileage, not too bad IMO.

The one thing that bugs me is the front license plate bracket. We don't need front plates in PA, but it's riveted to the bumper, so I guess it's staying on. For now, I'm getting a cheap plate made up that says LS6.

i dont think paying that isnt bad either.

but then again, there isnt very many 05 Vs with that low miles.

the only Vs i have seen with under 10000 miles are ones that have a bad title history. but those will sell for under 15000 bucks. hopefully yours is clean, because that is one hell of a find.

and for exhaust, if you dont go to LT or a staight X pipe...you should be able to keep the note very mellow until you hammer the pedal to the floor.

I had to get something for my front license plate, so for $15 I had this made by these guys: www.YearPlates.com

It's better then nothing, but I'm not completely certain it's what I want.

Honest Opinions? Other ideas?

i like the vanity plate.. but if your state doesnt require a front plate .. delete that dumbasss plastic bracket.. i hated mine.. so i got some generic bumper plugs from advanced painted/cleared them .. done for now untill i get some money for a respray and clear bra..

Welcome, that rear window diffuser thing doesn't look that bad. Kind of reminds me of the ones you see on an Evo or STi just without the glide points.

+1 on removing the front plate holder.

I hate to agree but I kinda like it too...not that I'm gonna rush out and buy one, but it's kinda growin on me....front plate holder is an instant delete...even the holes exposed would look better than that..sorry just my .02
