Default 04 coil overs, GC vs Kw or feal

hello all,

I have an 04 V. When I bought it, the car came with ground control coil overs, non- FG2 shocks and unknown springs. It drove fine, but i was constantly having to replace the springs onto their seats after hitting big bumps or potholes. I replaced the shocks with a set of NOS FG2s all around when the shocks went bad, and was able to adjust the ride height a bit to fix the spring perch issue, but the shocks did not play well with the rest of the suspension. the back end felt loose on any rough streets. I never tracked it with the FG2 to see how they handle there, but it felt very solid on the track with the original set up. I'm getting this car back on the road, and i need new shocks. Im debating trying to find a set of adjustable shocks and springs that work with my GC kit vs just buying a whole KW v3 or Feal set up. Im mostly concerned that if i have to keep swapping out springs to find a derivable combination that It'll end up sitting in the garage most of the time, but the KW kit is not cheap at 3500 bucks. Does anyone have experience with the KW kit on regular street driving vs the feal kit? alternatively does anyone have a good spring set up that work well with the ground control set up for a mix of beat-up midwest street and track driving rather that just track day?

Thanks!

I replied to your thread over on CF.com, too. I don't think you need to worry about having to do any swapping out of springs with the KWs - they really are very comfortable straight out of the box.

It's been a long time since I've seen any discussion of the GC setups; when I first got my car way back in '07, there weren't all of the cheap coilover options (BC, Megan, etc) available, so the GC setup seemed like a reasonably popular option to get higher spring rates and height adjustability. Doesn't seem like many people use them anymore. My recollection is that the popular spring rates were to with 500# front / 550# rear, or even 600f/650r. Have you looked for part numbers on the springs? If there are any PNs that will tell you the spring rates and lengths that were used.
