e test question?

e test question? if i e test my beater now before Jan 1, where they actually poke the exhaust and measures gases on my 98 ford contour, and it should pass..... can i use this to purchase a new sticker before aug 2013 (month of my birthday)
reason i ask is i have a ses light on, but it has always been on. even though the car passes emission(well at least with flying colours just over a year ago).

thanks guys that is what i figured. i will be getting mine done next week.
honestly i don't know if this car will last till august, lol! but if i don't do it i know it will end up lasting past august, and i will be scrambling to get e test done at that point. lol!!!
