You are right on with this concern. I would imagine with such a stroke you would want to keep your rpm range around 6500 or as tame as possible and still make the same power. pick your parts right and do your homework and you wont have any problems. If spray is an issue call a piston company and speak with them. Make sure you get what you want and nothing less.

so back to the heads.... building the 408 hope im doing the right thing by running CNC'd 243's VS CNC'd L92's gears are staying 3.25's and don't want/can run a huge stall for this street car. nitrous will be on board for a "pick up" if needed.

were the 243's a good choice?

the difference in the heads is minimal compared to the difference you would see if you dialed in a gear for the strip. What axle are you running?

For our offroad trucks we set up 3 different 3rd members for each build.

I litereally drive to Pismo on a 4:10 drop it in the parking lot, throw in the welded 5.29 3rd member in 10 minutes and im ready to roost.

If i was you I would setup a weekend/drag 3rd member with a spool or locker. I'm not a Hot Rod guy really, but in all other motorsports gearing is just as important to a good setup as hp. Also if you do break something in the diff you always have a spare. Just something to consider.

Good choice for a deeper gear, you will want to find a 26 inch tall tire if you can, that 28 is going to kill you off the line in conjunction with such a tall gear. In the 60 foot anyway, a 26 will help.

it was the size the car had on it when i bought it.... but it also had 4.88's i went with the 3.25 since i was going to turbo the car..... now im sticking with the bottle. I could buy another center and swap for the track but really the car is only going to the strip like 2-4 times a year.... if that much. the rest will be on the street. thats what im looking for a street killer my vette was a monster on the street with that gear and tire combo...... that was a mild big block though.

go with some 3.42 but no bigger than 3.55 with the 28" tire and you will be happy.

to be honest are we really splitting hairs here 3.42 or 3.55 to 3.25? this is a street car with a healthy (i hope, 408 CNC 243) engine and if needed a 200 or so shot.
