intake coating Hey guys, ordered my vic jr today, but I was wondering if anyone has coated theirs? A raw cast intake doesnt last long before it gets oxidized on a boat. Anyone spray any clear on their intake before?
We paint the plastic ones all the time. The only issue I *might* see is heat soak if it's on a boat. You know idling and when your going slow in no wake. But that would be a non issue with good paint. You don't wanna paint the inside, right?

No I only want a protective coating on the outside, and the most idling I do is about 3 minutes max, there's no speed limit or no wake zones on the part of the Colorado river that I go to. Would clear powder coat be a better option? I'd hate to ruin my brand new manifold
I dont think heat soak could be really possible with these intakes, they have fuel and air cooling the intake, the intake sits high and is in no way part of the valley cover and you do not have it closed in like a car, so i would pain it however you like, a nice clear coat would make it look better in the first place and protect it as well i think.
