what to do?

Talking what to do?

i have a 6.0l block,crank,and rods,no pistons and a new ms3 cam i bought off a friend.i would like to build this engine with this cam in mind.the heads i have are:706,317,243.i know the 243s are the heads of choice but will they work with this cam and what mod need to be done to them?oh! and what pistons?

At minimum you'd need good valvesprings and some new hardened pushrods for any of the heads you choose.

what yr 6.0 and which version of the rods?
i would say just bore it .060 over, use lq4 speed pro replacements with rings. if it uses the pressed wrist pin rods. the pistons are round 450$ with rings.
mill the 243s, .030 a vj, with backcut valve. ls3 head gaskets.
make for a stout 375ci motor with a super victor intake and a holley 750 hp carb

Its out of a 02' 2500hd,and the rods are stock.and i will be getting with tsp for the complete valvetrain to match this cam as well.nameSS,what is the pt# for those ls3 head gaskets?thx.

237/242@.050 and 603/609 lift.on a 112lsa and a 2300 to 6800 power band.

Im still gettin used to the big *** cams that these motors seem to like so much! I've been messin with small block fords for the past 10 years and a .600" lift cam is race car **** in that world! Got a smokin deal on an L92 out of an 07 Escalade though so I'm takin the plunge. I went with Mahle powerpack pistons, they were $550 and they come with rings

Yup! These ls motors are awsome,i got rid of most of my gen 1 smallblocks and now collecting the ls parts.but not a big fan of the aluminum blocks.good luck on your build.

You have to do exotic stuff to the heads and buy a race cam to make 400hp w/ a 1g sbc.but with a ls motor just a mild cam install you can make 400+ hp.a co-woker has a big inch ls pushing big block #'s.

by the way i need to get pistons,what would the piston size be if i bored it .060? ls piston sizes are in mm.

Hmmm, look at Mahle's site, they have em listed by specific engine and SAE. They have the biggest selection I found

Anytime man. this site is invaluable! Mahle makes excellent pistons. I've never used em in a car but I used to work at a shop in Friendswood TX that built high performance Detroit Diesels for big yachts and that's the only pistons we ever used! I didn't even know they had automotive applications til about a month ago.
