That engine package came up some time ago. Most guys were pretty critical of it, primarily because they felt you could build similar from junk yard parts for less.

I bought the base LS2 crate motor maybe 3 or 4 years ago. It was the same package but with the GMPP single plane intake. That package adds a starter, carb, air cleaner and ignition box that mine did not have. I think I paid just over $5k delivered at my local Chevy dealer, but that might have included an LS7 clutch and flywheel (~$400). So that package added the extra stuf for $1k.

The motor itself is a screamer. You will love it in your Camaro. It has Corvette water pump and pulley. Kwik performance has brackets to let you put the alternator and PS pump where ever you need it.

The problem I have with that package is all the Edlebrock parts. The Edlebrock ignition box is much less desirable than the MSD unit because it can't be programmed by a lap top. I don't know if you can reset the rev limiter because of that. I'm also not a big fan of dual plane intakes on LS motors. Your camaro is light enough that you will be better off with a single plane. Last I don't have any experience with Edlebrock carbs. Most guys seem to prefer Holleys.

As for price, yeah, buying new is more expensive then building up a used motor. But the advantage of a crate is everything is new and comes with a 12 month GM warranty. That motor has an aluminum block and the more desireable LS6 style heads, cam and ignition coils.

If you like the Edelbrock stuff than that isn't a bad price , especially since the LS2 crate motors are getting hard to come by. I think you will pay a good bit more for LS3 crates.
