MSD 6010 2-step question
Ok my question is for you guys running a manual transmission with the MSD 6010...I'm almost ready to take my 4 speed 81 camaro to the strip to get a baseline...I'm pretty sure I'm understanding that when 12 volts is given to the blue wire it will activate the first stage of the hi rev limit, my question is that just to keep from over revving during burnout or is it mainly used for launching at the line? If that's the case what kind of switch are you using to deactivate it once you are on your 1/4 mile run? Momentary, window, etc.? I've never drag raced a manual trans car and wanna give my self the best chance at not stalling the car on the launch and looking like a complete ******* lol...any info would be greatly appreciated...my 2.73 gears should minimize any wheel spin from my monstrous 14" wheels lol but any experience or info would def help me out...thanks guys
By any chance do you run a line lock? If so, splice it into that button. Line lock will hold you from rolling on the starting line and you can be on your low side rpm rev limiter all release with the switch at launch.
I used a button under my left thumb on the steering wheel. I would let go when I came off the clutch. Your going to do very poorly with those highway years. I wouldn't use it. Ur for burn out and just slip the clutch hard with those tall gears.
Yea gears suck I'm working on a 308-342 posi from a buddy I just might have to get bigger wheels/tires so I sip till have a first gear...def not trying to bracket race just wanna get a base time before more modding...
