Default Another cam thread S10

Looking for a cam for my s10 I'm building here's my specs so far, 5.3 from a 2004 suburban, has the cracked 706 heads, have a set of 241 off my trans am I'm going to port my self and have milled to bump up compression, 700r trans with stock stall, stock rear end for a 99 s10 2.2 not sure what it is just going to use it for now and will change later, I have a new Holley 750, Vic jr and msd 6010, this will be a daily driver so I want to hear the cam and also get the most mpg I can, also anyone know how much needs to be milled off the 241 heads to bring compression back up? Thanks

I'm doing the same once I find a S10. I'm going to use the edelbrock 2215 cam. No idea how it will sound yet.

You might have problems with any cam and a stock converter. But that 2215 should work good, or maybe a gm ls6 hot cam. I had one in my 6.0 for a bit, and it worked pretty good.

I would vote 2215 too, unless you go with a custom grind. If the stock converter is going to stay, think baby cam(220* or less at .050) and 110 or tighter on LSA. That should get the low end TQ at a good level against the stock converter. A tight LSA is normally a dirty cam down low, but with the skinny duration should work well if you put the super tune on your carb.

How much would a stall effect me on a daily driver? Never had one with a stall and the reason I was thinking I didn't want one was for fuel mileage, would it effect it that much? I don't mind a baby cam just looking for a good powerband it will be driven 50 miles plus daily, mpg and reliability are my biggest concern

If you stay with a lock up converter and most of the 50ml ride is 55mph or higher, you can get away with a higher stall by using the lockup . My 2004R is running a 2800stall, but I cruise at 1700-1800rpms with the converter locked and the mileage is good AND the trans stays cool to boot.
