How long will a stock th400 last with my 5.3 in my mustang and also after a highway pull do u shift to neutral or keep it in 3rd? And when I was doing highway pulls in my old 355 I was just shifting down to 1st from a roll slowly is this safe?

A th400 in good condition will take just about any abuse you can throw at it, laugh in you face and tell you "Is that all you got"?

Shifting to 1st on a slow roll ??? Should already be in 1st ?
I was always told not to shift into neutral at speed since the drive shaft is still turning, it causes the trans to go into "hyper-drive" and spins the trans too fast.... trans could blow ?

This is true. Putting it in neutral at a high speed can cause a direct drum explosion due to spinning it too fast. The drum can come apart under the excessive centrifugal force of being over-spun. Just let it engine brake. Don't throw it in neutral.

Well when it's in manual mode and ur going from like 60 down to like a 30 u can shift down with no problem to second then first right? And good cause I always did full pulls on the street when I did runs with friends a couple side by side till I hade no more rpm lol and just left it in 3rd and pressed the brake I was just wondering is that was bad or if I had to throw it in neutral and then brake
