Default Hood clearance?

Does anybody know if a carbed LS fits under a stock Trans Am Firebird hood? Which intake was used if they did fit and is there any modifications needed to make it fit?

What year model TA you have? If its a second gen, a carb intake isn't going to work without something on top of it to add about 4-5".

It's a 4th generation firebird. I'm thinking of getting rid of the fuel injection.

I don't think you will be able to pull it off without cutting your cowl and running some kind of 4+" hood scoop. Its not just about clearing the carb, its also about having enough room above the carb to get all the undisturbed air your engine needs. IMO, you need a bare minimum of 3" above the carb to let the combo run to its potential. 5" would be even better!
