92 GMC Sierra reg cab. Converter is a little tight flashing around 3,000 rpm but I just got a circle d 3,800 in and will install it soon. Stock open diff 10 bolt with 3.42 gears. Mickey Thompson drag radials. Truck ran real good with the carb WOT was around high 12 low 13 afr. Didn't mess with jetting any. Gainesville raceway. NEED A REAREND! Right lane car 15

Not bad at all man. Your new converter will let you find out what kind of traction you really have once you get the rear diff to turn both tires

Do you think there is potential for low 12s with the new stall and a rearend change? Prolly a ford 9" with 3.89 or 4.10 gears. It felt slow out of the gate with the combo I have now. that converter and gears just kill it in that heavy truck

If you managed to knock of .3 in the 60 foot, yes. If you are swapping gears with the converter it will act like a different animal on the launch.

I know your going to install a taller gear eventually and 4.10's wouldn't be a bad idea if you are running a 28" or taller tire. The 8.5 you have now is strong enough and its 30 spline axles should work fine. A Powertraxx locker or a Spartan locker will slip in your open unit and should have no problems handling what you have. Way cheaper than going 9".
