help with new build

Default help with new build

i need a new shortblock since i lost a rod in my lq4. i have ai 243s with 62.5cc chambers edelbrock dual plane pro systems 950 comp 227/235 614/621. the motors in a 63 nova ht that weighs about 3000lbs with a th350 and 3.73s. should i go 408 or forged 370? recommendations on a shortblock or a place to get one built? will my old stuff work with a new build?

I would talk with them to be sure on what you'll need for clearances ?

I would think your parts would be fine....and I guess the block was FUBAR'd when the rod let go ?

it doesnt look that bad. it broke really low, the piston banged on the head a couple times but the cylinder has just a couple scratches in it. the motor is still in the car, ill take a better look when i pull it

If you can save your block and bore/sleeve it, that's how I'd go.

The stroker is going to have more torque, go faster and be more fun for sure. No question. As for it matching up with your current parts, just let the machinist know what you have for heads. The 62cc combustion chambers will affect which pistons they use to get your your desired compression ratio. As for the camshaft, the stroker will allow you to run a larger duration and get more power within the same RPM range, but you can run the cam you have if you really want to. It will be a torque monster.

If it were me, I would sell the cam in the sale section here and get one that is a better fit for the stroker. If you run a little more cam, you can run some more compression on pump gas too which is a nice bonus.
