Help with solid flat tappet 5.3
Looking at a standard SBC solid lifter compared to the ls7 lifter, the oil feed portion of the lifters mostly overlap. Obviously the pushrods will be much longer as the SBC lifters have a 1.88 cup height.
Wondering if anyone else has done this or at least tried. Any help or info would be great.
You will almost certainly need a custom cam grind, don't think a roller profile will translate to non-roller lifters, so I would call a cam builder and see what they recommend.
I would check out the competition and see if any of them are running LS motors.

Im sure you have a good reason. Id just like to know what it is,
Tried searching for the engine masters build but didn't have any luck.
The reason we're trying the LS is because many of the tracks around here are dry slick and with the 8" IMCA tire you really can't put that much power to the ground. The 604 crate wins a whole lot of races with only 400hp. I think with a sbe 5.3 we can get more than enough power up top to use on the straights and not over power the tire coming out of the corners. And of course, reliability and cost.
