Trying to determine setup
Hello all, New here. I'm in the process of freshening up a LQ9 to put it in my 66 Lemans convertible. I want to go with a carb to keep that old school look. I have the following specs i'm considering. Please let me know if you see anything wrong with this setup. This is just a cruiser so not looking for anything crazy and like everyone, trying to do this on a tight budget. Might do upgrades in the future if money is available.
02 lq9
cam: 228/230 .571/.573 112

keeping 317 heads and replacing springs
Holley 300-130bk intake

carb: summit m2008

msd controller
TH400 trans
torque converter (undecided)
As for the carb, is it better to go with a vacuum or mechanical secondaries?

10 Second Club
Agree...VS carb better for street.
I know at 60-65mph (3300rpm) my secondarys are starting to open; enough so you can hear them. At that point mpg is going down quick.

For me, it would depend on the stall converter. I don't like vacuum secondary carburetors on anything over a 2800 stall converter. They just don't work well together in my experience.
Other than that, I would love to put you in a Cam Motion brand camshaft and lifters. Here are two good potential combos:
1.) Cam Motion Titan II Camshaft (221/226 .595"/.586"), 2500-3000 stall, dual plane intake (like the Holley you have listed) & a Vacuum secondary 750 cfm Holley.
2.) Cam Motion Titan 4 Camshaft (227/232 .612"/.595"), 3000-3500 stall, dual plane intake (like the Holley you have listed) & a Mechanical Secondary 750 cfm Holley.
