Default Drilling 243 heads for external coolant lines

Hey guys, as the title says, has anyone done this to the factory castings?
I've seen photos of aftermarket heads being done.
This is for a marine endurance application, has anyone got any experience doing this?
Thanks

Looking at the factory heads/block, putting a blanking plate over the factory water inlet/outlet and routing the cool water into the block at each cylinder, and the outlet at each end of the heads?
Thoughts? I'm nervous to drill into the block!
