i just what to say how much i love these cars although i have never owned one. lots of people are always turning these cars down and laughing at people who own them but no one ever gives them any credit. nobody really understands how important V6 camaros really are. if it was not for them, the camaro name would of not made it so far (1967-2002). think about it. since V6 camaros are made less expensive from GM they sell pretty good. this in turn keeps all the interchangeable parts like the body and interior down in price since the quantity goes up and in turn, brings the price down for the V8 models. also dont forget in the future, once camaros become rarer and rarer, all the V6 ones will provide lots of those parts for people trying to restore there rare SS's and Z28s. also there will be plenty of bodys that people can use to swap motors in them for dragracing and other things. all this adds up to makeing the camaro enthusiest out there happy wether they know it or not. so what if someone wants to own a camaro, but does not what the higher price, less gas milage, bigger insureance payments, more attraction for theaves and cops, and the bigger chance of loseing control or breaking parts when drivin too hard that the V8 models offer. i dont care, everybody has the right to think different and what different things. this is Amarica right? so from now on, when you are cruzing down the road in your hopped up SS or Z28 and see a stock V6 camaro cruzing along side of you, dont look down at it and think your better, just give a freindly smile and wave hello. i do, for it is him that made the Camaro so great.

steve.
Thanks for the post, Steve. As a former owner of a 1978 Camaro, 305 with 4 speed, 1990 Firebird, and now a 2001 V-6 Camaro, Monterey Maroon, T-tops, auto (my wife gets it every once in awhile), and all Z28 options except the V-8, I appreciate your comments. My car gets all the looks (especially with the tops out), has enough pull on the interstate, gets great gas milage, and is easy on my insurance. I'm 43, and don't have the need for the torque under the hood anymore. It sure is fun to drive everyday. I envy my neighbor with the black on black 2000 SS, but he doesn't drive it much due to the insurance issues.
This is a great website for me to read and learn, and I appreciate the guys with the special cars, but I enjoy mine, too, thank you very much. Take care, Wulfgar

I don't see how not driving it much is going to save on his insurance rates. He's either got storage insurance on it or he'd have to be dropping his insurance all the time and getting a new policy each time he wants to drive the thing for him to save money while he's not driving it. Even then, your rates go up if you have gaps in your insurance coverage.
I like my V6 cuz it looks good, and if I had my choice itd be an SS with a bigger motor but I cant deny that I'm just proud to own an Fbod, and it was there when I was looking for a new car after I totaled my other car in a wreck so I snatched it up for 1200, so thanks Taqwache

Um, my insurance at age 22 is $70 per month.
My gas mileage is better than 22 mpg every fill up, even better on long trips.
The difference in insurance for a V6 was almost non-existant (less than $10 a month difference).
A v6 camaro MIGHT get 25 mpg.
So basicly, you're talking $25 a month difference, even less if you don't drive as much as me and if your insurance is cheaper (at 40 years old it sure should be).
And with these lame reasons, you're glad you have a V6?
actually, my 98 v-6 camaro got worse mpg than the t/a in my sig. it was definately a fun car. looked like an ss, and would pull a gt out of the whole. it's in many tiny pieces now, thanks to an ******* taking the front end off at 60 mph, but its all good. 11 second time slips are better than 15 seconds any day
nothing wrong with a v6 . it gets you into the f-body scene , can be converted to a V8 later on and is more affordable on intial purchase /insurance. my 3rd gen convertible was fairly inexpensive , fun to drive and now is well on it's way to becoming completely wicked. there is a low -mileage LS1/T56 combo in the garage and my parts pile is getting large. best of all , i own the car out right , got a really nice paint job on it now . i wil be leaving the RS badges and tailights on it for the sleeper effect. those fox-body mustangs and LT1 s will never know what hit 'em
