Ok guys I didn't wanna get redirected and pulling my hair trying to Google or YouTube please help.
I switched my cluster and all my lights are on like I figured. What I don't know is the steps to make the computer learn it.

just left the dealership and they said they couldn't do anything the vinis programmed and thus cluster will not work in my car because it doesn't go to my car I've never heard of not being able to program an instrument cluster to a different car

Dealerships get clusters that are ready to be programmed, but are not vin specific only vehicle specific. The software that is programmed into the cluster during install makes it specific to the vehicle. Each cluster can only be programmed one time and at the same time of programming they input the mileage. You cannot pull one used out of a salvage yard and expect to be able to make it work correctly with your vehicle.

what the heck are you trying to do?
Program a cluster?????
vin is programmed and thus cluster will not work??
As far as I know there is no programming in the cluster, also the pcm doesn't care what cluster you have, also the vin has nothing to do with the cluster.
Did you get a cluster from a v6 and use it in a v8?
What exactly is it doing or not doing?
Totally confused by what the problem is.

Instrument panel clusters are separate modules just like a bcm or pcm and require programming when replaced and cannot be switched from vehicle to vehicle due to the fact they don't want mileage inconsistencies. Vin determines RPO codes, RPO codes determine software to program into module (IPC). Programmed more IPC's than I care to remember while working at the local GM dealer.
