Default How bad is this?

Looking at a 40k mile immaculate 1994. Everything looks great until.i get this pic of the engine bay. Is this a huge problem with 4th gen...looks like quite a bit of rust on the towers and radiator support. ...are these large issues with this generation....should I pass on the car?

Thanks

I'm not sure how anyone could describe a car as "immaculate" with rust like that present in the engine bay. I guess that term is so over-used that it simply means the car is "not awful".

This car appears to have seen some foul weather usage. My '02 had some rust similar to that after many years of winter driving. I would also assume that the undercarriage has similar rust.

Some amount of engine bay/undercarrige rust is common on these cars when they are used as daily drivers in northern climates. Normally it would take a very long time and continued exposure for said rust to turn into a catastrophic problem though.

Honestly, for a twenty-year-old car, it doesn't look that bad to me.

It looks like it might have been neglected for some time (even with the low miles) but was recently cleaned up for the sale/pictures. While I wouldn't run away from that car, I'd ensure the price reflects the wear.
