Default Need help with speedometer/tachometer issue

I have a 1998 Camaro with a 6spd manual transmission. Recently while in neutral and the idle around 900rpms i noticed my speedometer needle start to increase while the car was parked. I revved the motor and as the tachometer rose, so did the speedometer needle (while not moving).

Today while driving home the tachometer and speedometer needles have developed a mind of their own and aren't registering the rpms or speed appropriately. If i power off the car and restart, things are okay for a few seconds and then back to "guessing" what rpm and speed i'm doing.

Any thoughts on where to begin with a fix for this?

There has been no recent work or mods done on my car in over a year btw.

I would talk to a speedo repair place in Calgary, they rebuilt the Hummer gauge cluster with multiple bad stepper motors and lights out, top notch now....
