Default Backpressure?

So I hit a bump pretty rough the other day, muffler and tailpipes came loose from the exhaust pipe leading from the engine(not sure of the pipes name.) The bolt on the clamp broke off inside the threads so i just removed the tailpipes and muffler all together, is this okay for the car? I've heard about backpressure being a factor here but I've heard lots of varying information regarding it. Just wanting someone to clear that back pressure part up a bit? Thanks!! If it helps, everything in this photo is what has been removed from the car. I also did an EGR delete if that's relevant at all.

Anything after the catylyitic converter would be fine, albeit loud. Before the cat is a whole different story. More questions come into play though, stock exhaust manifolds or headers? Assuming stock, you would need that back pressure to help ensure a full burn, without it you are definitely risking burning a valve which can lead to major work. Along with excess heat in the engine compartment.

My advice? If still stock, take the time and spend the money to put on some long tube headers and then you done need to worry about the backpressure.

It's still 100% stock other than a couple replaced hoses and an EGR delete because the wiring going to it was fucked up. Yeah the cars all stock and it still has the catalytic converter. It sounds beautiful, I just wanted to be sure it wasn't gonna be bad for the car or anything. I asked a mechanic friend of mine who's been doing the **** his whole life, he said Backpressure is pretty much a myth, and he's ran every car hes owned the same way mine is now and he's never had a problem with it

Perfect excuse to throw in a nice catback system.

No back pressure needed ever. You just need enough exhaust to not pull air back into your valves and bend it on a carb and enough to not pull air back into your O2 on an EFI car, so 18" after the O2 is all you need. If you have second O2 sensors they will need the cat and then 18" after that O2.
