A/C removal
. Just wondering whats involved in the removal of all parts associated with the A/C, is this a difficult job? List what needs to be removed, does the serpentine belt need to be replaced afterwards? This is all new to me, all help is appreciated. that said
compressor, condenser, bracket/tensioner, dryer and lines, heater lines, blower motor and evaperator core inside the cabin. would need a new line to loop the heater lines output on water pump, need an AC delete panel when the job is done. Depending on how you want to do it, the proper way of removing the system is to pull the complete dash to get access to the blowermotor, blend motor and core assembly this will remove the black box inside the engine bay as well. plus you should technically go and have the system properly evacuated before doing all of this to remove the freon and oil from the system before you start to dissassemble it. Depending on your level of experience this could be a full weekend project.
you could also do it in phases and just remove the compressor dryer and condenser and associated lines in the engine bay, and work on teh other items later. Again lot of work for minimal gain. Full disclosure though, I dont curretnly have AC on my build, but retained my heat and blower motor, I have yet to pull the AC evaporator out yet, but thats a plan for the winter I think. I did it because I wanted to keep the engine bay relatively clean, I do want to keep AC though so I will likely go with a compact replacement from Vintage Air so I can keep my flush firewall. More money for a different time though.
Now if it was a 60's to 78 car with old A6 compressor those were a hoss they pulled some power when ac was on.
