Here to learn
We have a 1992 Camaro with a TBI 305 for power in my 19 year old daughters 1st car.
So far we have just been trying to remove the curses put in place by the previous owners and putting things back together the way they should have been.
Here we are right at the beginning when we purchased the car for her at the guys house.
Going back to Oregon on the interstate bridge.
Them Duke boys seemed to have rallied this poor car through a chase or two.
That poor little exhaust pipe has been slammed into the bottom of the floor pan enough to dent the floor up in places.
And yes, the PO nerd used JB Weld and a Truly can to fix an exhaust leak...
The bigger the booger the better the weld right?
Then we have the beauty of the dashboard speaker install.
Just use a cut off wheel and cut out that pesky stuff until your speakers fit in there.
Then just set the speakers in the new hole and put the dash pad right back over them...
So that is where we are.
Fixing sins from previous hacks.
Eventually I would be interested in perhaps swapping in an LS power plant and need to learn about them.
That is why I am here.
We have been hard at work on it for a while.
It now has most of a fully welded 3 inch exhaust under it from the cat back.
I have replaced the cat with a new Magnaflow unit that is on V-Bands for simple removal for "test" purposes.
Since it is not my car project, it still wears the stock manifolds and Y pipe that we have connected too.
When she has the cash and want for upgrading that part, she can pay for it and we will help her install it.
This guy is terrible at stereo installs and this is the pile of wire that was removed just from his terrible work.
This last weekend we removed a complete dash from a same year donor in the junkyard.
It is already a much happier car and we will continue making it better as we go.
Sweet looks like the car is much better happier with the new owners!
FWIW - lot of times in my experience of owning a 3rd Gen's for ~38 years and being around 3rd Gen's, they are excellent cars but a certain type of prior owners often neglect these areas:
pinion seals often leak
fuel filters seldom get changed
cooling fan or cooling fan relays don't work and need replaced
hatch & hood lifts usually need replaced
rear & front struts are seldom replaced by prior owners.
Wishing you & daughter the best with her Camaro and looking forward to updates.
- We have a new one for it and its on the list.
- These are actually still working on both ends.
- These were all semi recently replaced on the car.
Currently the interior is mostly removed for cleaning and fresh wiring done the correct way.
She is ready to drive the wheels off it, but knows that this stuff is needed to make things good for a long time coming.

It has plenty of pep and it will already leave black marks everywhere.
Just need to swap the rear out for a Gen 4 with LSD and better gears.
