I’ve recently purchased a 1998 Camaro Z28 with 60,000 miles. This car was garage kept its entire life and had a multitude of aftermarket parts installed. However, after I purchased it, I located several electrical issues and an issue under the hood involving the air box.
So with that said, my first question is regarding the air box. You can see in the photos the top of the airbox is rubbing the hood. It appears to say SLP on it but doesn’t seem like an actual unit from them, more like a knock off. What would be causing this? The car does have 243 heads and LS6 intake according to the previous owner and the paperwork I received with the car.
My second question is I located a small black box among the bird nest of aftermarket wiring. I have sorted through and removed much of the wiring due to not using or needing it. During this I located a small black box plugged into two wires which are bundled with the wires leading to the OBDII port. I’ve attached pictures. Any idea what this is or what it is plugged in to? I couldn’t find a wiring diagram
showing what those wires are used for.
Any advice or help on these issues would be great!
The airbox probably has a fast toys ram air, or copy. It gets air from underneath in front of the radiator. So it isn’t starving for air.
This is what I’ve seen so far. It has an aluminum piece which gets air to it from underneath.
As for the small black box, I figured out what it was. It was some type of LED flasher plugged in where the round flasher should be. I removed it and will be ordering the correct flasher to put back in it.
