Default Fuel system for 1st gen

1967 Camaro, 433ci, big street cam, hogged out heads, TH400, Barry Grant 950 carb, dual stage fogger, race gas (110)

I want to be able to run this car on the street without burning up a fuel pump. I need advice on replacing the entire fuel system. What do you guys recommend?

Current fuel system: 5/8 rubber lines, Barry Grant 280 fuel pump (dead in the water), FPR

BTW, Nitrous will only be used at the track (2-3 a year).

depends on how big you want to go. My nova currently has a Carter 8 psi electric pump as well as a Carter 8 psi mechanical pump (no regulator needed on either) with 3/8" aluminum line running the length of the car from tank to pump. System never drops below 7 psi on motor and 6-1/4 psi on bottle on a full 1/4 pass. This is on a 383 stroker putting 373 rwhp/485 rwtq down on a dyno.

We also have a 71 Nova with a 496 big block with 3/8" line running a Holley blue pump that runs mid 10s N/A on pump gas without any fuel issues.

I'd consider a separate fuel system for the spray that isn't used unless you arm it. The motor could use a Holley blue pump or even a volumax with 1/2 hard line. A 25 foot section of aluminum line cost way less than braided, and it's NHRA/IHRA-legal (mine was about $30 bucks). I don't see the need for anything bigger, but if you want to step up more, it'll get expensive in a hurry!

BTW, I'm posting this for a co-worker....

The motor makes nearly 1000hp on the juice.

yep i'm guessing about 200-300 of that 1000 is on the spray. 1/2 inch should work fine provided you run 2 systems, one for motor and one for spray. Otherwise you could do up a 5/8 system, but gonna get $$$$ .

FWIW, the 10.40 BBc Nova puts out about 675 hp N/A and he's still running a 3/8 line with a stock tank and sending unit!
