Default 84 Z

Looking into buying a 84 Z. Has t tops, is what he says. Thinking of buying it and stuffing a 502 under the hood. Street and strip. Will that car handle a 502? Or am i going to have to modify the subframe?

502 can fit, but a new hood is mandatory. Obviously a good suspension to brace the car for that torque is essential. I know others have done this on this board, but thirdgen.org would probably have more answers.

Lot of 3rd gen big blocks out there. Check out a 3rd gen site. I would put an ls2 402 in it & make 500rwhp.

it'll fit, hooker makes BBC headers for them but the fit is iffy. Lemon headers custom makes some nice ones for $1k-1200 and a set of subframes and a roll bar are nice additions. Any questions let me know. www.thirdgen.org will help, in the motor swap section there is a BBC swap sticky, that I would read and read before asking the same questions over and over. I've done 2 of them and it's not difficult, solid motor mounts or poly mounts help, as does a small cap HEI over the big cap ones. The wiper motor may or may not hit your valve covers depending on the motor mounts and what size valve covers you run.

Remember to get the car squared and stiffened before adding the big block. T-tops can be a pain with torque and twisting (reason why some look for a fixed roof car when doing a serious build).

Just another opinion, good luck with the build.
