Default 1968 Camaro dash question

I have a 68 Camaro that needs a new dash. The old one is pretty rusty,
and not worth trying to repair. The vin # is part of the dash, not a plate
like modern cars.
How do I go about getting a new dash made with the same vin #? Do companies that make these ask for the # or does the DPS need to get involved?
Anyone else have this issue come up?

thanks,

A far as i know the dash and section above the crash pad are separate and when you buy replacement dash this only includes the lower section and you weld in under the crash pad
hope this helps!

You should be able to drill out the old VIN plate.....
