Great timing. I'm about to do the exact same 5.7 swap into my black '79 Monte in a few weeks. I'm just trying to get as much info as possible beforehand and order all the parts so I won't be delayed by shipping times. What headers did you end up using? Seeing your pics (awesome build, btw) makes me anxious to get started. I only hope I can do as well as you have haha. Great work-definitely keep us posted on your progress as you get the tranny in and finish her up.

What headers are these? Did you go with the Pacesetters? Did you have to change them or anything?

The headers are BRPs G-body swap headers. They actually fit very well with John Bs motor mounts. The only thing I did not like about them was the slip fit collectors and add on o2 bung. Let me know if you have any other questions.

The engine mounts are factory SBC mounts with a set of adapter plates that set the engine back 1''.

On the front? If so, there's nothing there , just an open hole right now.

I bought the $200 ebay stainless long tubes. They're meant for an F-body but will fit with a little "work". The drivers side fits perfect, but the pass. side I had to put a flat spot in the header to clear the frame. It's not horrible, just most people wouldn't want to do that to an expensive set of headers, that's why I bought the ones from ebay. It's either that or find a used set for less, or bite the bullet and pay around $600 for fitted headers.

Looks great. I have the truck intake also going in my 81TTA, and the intake seems like it's going to be a little to high, i hope it will all fit!

The intake won't clear my stock hood either, I'm gonna have to end up going with a cowl hood. I was wanting to anyways, so this will move that part of the build along a little faster I guess.

Default Lower Radiator Hose

yungbowtieguy---

I'm finishing an 85 MonteSS w/ LS3. I used a lower radiator hose from Gen4 Camaro (2000). Dayco 71982 (Rock Auto) 1.25dia top, 1.50dia bottom, 16in developed length. Its virtually a perfect fit.....

Using a G-body replacement radiator which had 1.50 dia bottom connection. The LS3 water pump was about 1.5in dia so had to soak the 1.25 dia end of the hose in boiling water and applied dish water soap to the ID. Slipped right on!!
