Help...t56 won't mate up to ls2
somewhere in this forum i have a swap page, but i'm too laxy and frustrated to look it up right now.
Basically, this is what i have:
C6 Ls2 (from an automatic i believe)
2000 Camaro t56
SLP Billet Fly
Cartech clutch
Quickly disappearing patience
I've spent the past 4 hours trying to get the t56 to bolt to the ls2. It'll go in, and then wont go any further than a 1/2" gap between the engine and the bellhousing.
I thought it was the clutch alignment first. So, i removed the clutch, re-aligned it, and lubed the new pilot bearing while i was at it. Put it all back together...It went in a LITTLE bit further, and i thought i was ont he right path. So i started tightening al the bolts evenly, and then the bottom drivers side pulled a thread right out.
I'm back to square one. What do you guys suggest?

im not positive not too lsx tranny savvy but I know the lq4's newer version come with a spacer behind the flywheel on the auto's...
With that said maybe the ls2 auto is the same? if it is you will have to remove the spacer. If thats not it then idk but good luck!

Do you have the starter bolted to the block? When I did this (05 GTO T56 on LS1 block) that was when I discovered that the LS1 starter will not work with the 05-06 GTO bell. Removed starter and it slid right on. Also had to get a GTO starter. Maybe you have the opposite problem - LS2 starter with LS1 bell (but I would think that would work). -Bob
