Default Z-gate shifter

I have a B&M Z-gate shifter for a TH350 in my car now http://www.jegs.com/i/B%26amp%3BM/130/80681/10002/-1 . Can I use it for a 4l60e and just be minus the manual first gear? I would never use the first gear anyhow. 2nd gear street launches can be handy at times though

Thanks for the info.

I only ask because I don't have the shift arm or bracket on the trans to try it out. I just ordered the arm, but will the stock 4l60e bracket work too?

In theory if you only need the P R D 3 2 settings it will work fine. You may have to play with the lever length (transmission side) to get the throws right but I'm using my factory Ford 470RW shifter on my GM 4L60E without issue (with slight modifications of course). I don't have access to manual first either, but I really didn't want / need it for anything other than testing which has been long since done. I'm keeping an ultra stealth appearance so I don't have much choice on shifters.

Thanks for the reply. I figured better update this so it will be some info for other people. I went ahead and ordered the 400/350/700r4 bracket kit and arm for the B&M shifter. The arm goes right on the 4l60e. However, the cable bracket does not bolt up to the pan and it doesn't line the cable up with the arm. So after some surgery on the bracket, it lines up nice and shifts the 4l60e just great! I even checked to make sure it works with all the shift detents and it is spot on! Thanks.
