I have a Ford Taurus fan, I think it is the same as the Lincoln, one big fan, moves tons of air, I still haven't figured out how to mount it, I trimmed away the original plastic frame, since it made the fan hit the front of my motor, and now I just need to fabricate something for it.

Is it reasonable to assume that most OEM fans flow a decent amount of CFM?

Reason I ask is, I was looking through a lot of vehicles on RockAuto to check out the fans and came across the 2001 Malibu dual fan assembly that looks like it would fit fairly well in my car, but couldn't find any info on them other than dimension.

I run a taurus fan on my LS. The fan rarely ever comes on. I can recall at least three times in about 100 miles that it came on. Car runs 160-180..

I got a ls1 rad w/fansand plugins off ebay for 85 plus 25 shipping just watch for deals

Yelp usually... I would buy the dorman brand... You can call the techs and get the test data from them... Thats how I got my info on the 2000 Windstar Fans.......

The factory fans usually do the job.... and for a cheaper price than some of the aftermarket $399+ ha ha... screw that...... I bought mine from Rockauto and got my fan pigtails from the junkyard.....oops the recycle yard...lol

Whatever you get, a dual-fan setup with fans of different sizes can help keep noise levels down as opposed to have two fans of the same size.

Since my radiator core is only 21" wide, looks like the Taurus set up is what I will need. "U-pull-It" here I come.

the taurus fan fits an 3rd-gen nova perfectly. a mid-90s ford contour fan fits a 1966 GTO radiator with very minimal cutting. both flow in the mid 3ooo's cfm (so legend has it...).

truth

had them on my car for years now...look like they were made for my radiator with a 5 minute trim job to remove the mounting "arms" from the sides

small one comes on via temp sensor kit from painless, large fan wired to a dash switch (never need the big fan during daily driving even in 110* heat, but it's there for quick cooldowns and it blows over the intake tubing so my IATs drop with it on)

I'd run the mark VIII or what I used is a 96 T-Bird Fan. It looks exactly like the Mark VIII fan, but with a less powerful motor. It's also a 2-speed fan. I run it on the low speed power wire with my second gen Spal PWM Controller and the car never gets above 195 even on 100+ heat and with the A/C on. Picked 2 up at the local pick-a-part on 50% off day for $30. Best of all there quiet and the move tons of air. Replaced dual SPAL fans with the t-bird and I'll never go back.

Along the same lines but to show how the aftermarket stuff works or should I say doesn't work too good: My Buddy has a 66 mustang he rebuilt and has been fighting a cooling issue; new northern radiator, milidoon high volume water pump (yes, they make water pumps too, I was shocked) new ford racing small block stroker, 5sp, fact add on air w/york compressor...anyway he cannot keep the car below 200 on a hot day in traffic any way shape or form, water wetter, dexcool, thermostat restrictor, 160 thermo, 180 thermo, even w/ 2 fans, both aftermarket, 1 zirgo 3500cfm, 1 sphal 3000cfm, 1 pushing , 1 pulling, hes frustrated. On the interstate @ 75mph it runs 185 no lower, when he hits traffic w/a/c on, both fans , 210-215 and higher if he doesn't move, mechanical temp gauge too. Any tips? Maybe he should try my fbody fans...LOL

The Zirgo, the jury is still out. Some people have claimed that the Zirgo's do not perform as advertised, but I do not have any data to back that up.The other biggest argument is that the Zirgo's claim to pull big cfm numbers but the amp draw does not match the level of output they claim.... I have heard good things about the Spal's but they are just so expensive....

What has worked for me and others are pullers.... I have yet to see a pusher work well unless for a tranny cooler..... The other thing, if I were a gambling man, I would say he does not have a fan shroud.... A puller with a fan shroud will cover more surface area of the radiator core than a fan with no shroud.... Get a fan or fans with a shroud that covers the radiator core area(fins)..... You don't want a pusher in front of the radiator core blocking the air.. you want as less restriction in front of the radiator core area as possible... I dread the tranny cooler in front but so far it had not been a problem with cooling.....

Whether BBC or SBC I always go with the biggest radiator that will fit......

If the Mark VIII and Camaro Fans are too big Check out the 95-up Taurus fan which are smaller but still flow over 3800 CFM and have a shroud that measures 17X22" if I remember correctly.

Are these fans on your chevelle and if so, is it a stock style radiator? Looking for something like this for my '70 Skylark. Got any pics of this setup you can post? Thanks!

there is alot of truth to this, I remember doing research in tech school about 12 years ago and at BEST the aftermarket fans could perform with some of the early factory electrics in cfm. it was overly clear the factory fans have much more time and research in them.. not to knock the aftermarket ones they have there place and that is they offer more room and fast clean install.

Does anyone have the dimensions for the Ford Taurus fan, or the Lincoln Mark VIII??? Looking for a OEM type fan set-up for my 69 Camaro... The radiator is tiny.. 22 1/2" wide x 19" tall between tanks. It's a Northern Aluminum that I've had in there for a while now.

I know there is not a lot of love for aftermarket fans. But, I have a twin Spal set-up on my 427/t-56 '71 GMC and love them. Had zero issues during mulitple 10-14 hour days through 110-120 degree heat this past summer. Nice clean set-up too.

Yes they are on my chevelle which has the big block (3 core IIRC) style radiator.

Don't have any good pics but I can try to get some if you would like.
