Default Is the LS/4L80E similar in size to Chrysler 318/727?

A buddy of mine saw what I'm doing to my Jeep (2005 LM7/4L60E) and was asking if he could swap an LS1 and a 4L60E into the same package space as a 318 with a 727 trans?

His vehicle is a street rod and my buddy tells me the current engine is in there tight.

Thanks, Ken

Just from my experiances with both motors over the years, I feel the 318 / 727 is a more compact package, then a LS, since I've seen 318"s fir nisely in vehicles the Gen1 SBC's were a tight fit, i.e. the old Datsun 240Z cars. The LS motor is larger or at least higher then a Gen1 SBC
