Cool truck man. My first vehicle was a 69 c10 and boy I sure do miss her and could tell you a bunch of stories about her lol...keep up the good work! Nothing like those old chevy's...

plan has changed. Keeping it looking very similar to what it is. Wont have the "ron's" deal on the side, installing my cowl hood, and redoing the paint (will be more of a satin black this time)

Thanks for the comments gents. Its actually broke down right now (thanks to my hot rodding the **** out of it)

Its running really rough, not wanting to stay running, but no code is showing on the obd2 reader. My buddy who installed it is checking it out, but im not in too big of a hurry with it being winter.

Also soaked the alternator since I'm running the Fbody accessory brackets, and never installed a "splash guard" so to speak. So once we get it back running like a raped ape again, im going to put something under the truck to help keep water from getting to the alternator.

been a bit since i updated this. The truck isn't running too hot. Here are some of the issues:

1. I think the starter is fried as when the motor is warm, the starter doesn't work until it cools down.
2. Truck is starting to overheat when sitting in traffic
3. Condensation build up on the oil cap, but no water in the pan
4. Running very rich
5. heat isn't working
6. water pump is leaking from the seep hole

I first plan on swapping the water pump with a brand new AC Delco one.

Started getting things ready for when the new pump arrives. I got everything removed and the bolts to the WP loose, just waiting on the new one. I went back with AC Delco brand rather than buying reman or aftermarket.



This has me worried... I'm not sure what this is, but it's on the intake where the throttle body meets the intake.



I am also going to start a thread in the noob section asking what this is, but i wanted to ask you guys here too.


I circled this line that is attached to the throttle body. It is capped on one end, then leads into the intake.



Then there is this line that comes from under the fuel rail covers that attaches to the throttle body as well.


under this is where the milkyness is.

be sure you have the cooling system bled well. The line on the throttle body is the t-body coolant line, just disconnect it and plug the appropriate ports, run the line from the head to the radiator.

Ive flushed the system twice due to thinking i blew the head gasket(s).

The coolant line for the TB is capped at the throttle body. It still runs from the TB to the crossover line between the two heads. I have never had a problem with this line, i just want to make sure its not going to in the future.

Any ideas why the PCV line has milkiness?

the outlet of the TB coolant line is capped ? Not sure about the PCV, that's an awful lot of sludge to be from condensation. Check your oil ?

I have replaced the Tstat twice, flushed both oil and cooling systems, added an overflow tank, and now doing the water pump

Oh ok. Mine didn't have a cable at all on it. I've seen some local guys parting out their Fbodies, I'll have to see what they want for that. Mine is ran under the cross over tube and sticks a little. Nothing major, but annoying.

Yesterday i had a little time to spend on the truck. Here is what it looks like under the valve cover






This is my first time inside this engine, or any LS series engine for that matter. Would you guys consider this good?

There was an EXTREMELY minimal amount of milkiness i found in the oil. I checked the dipstick and in all the crevices above. I also picked up the Napa Hydrocarbon tester as well. Once i get time to get it back together, I'll do the test on it. The new AC Delco pump and factory temp thermostat installed. All i am waiting for is the in-house adapter i ended up buying instead of making. Found a really good looking aluminium one and decided to go that route. Should be here this week.

Have you considered a catch can? That will help keep the oily milky stuff from getting in your intake. Nice truck!

Thanks Bama! Yes. A catch can is next on the list. I just want to make sure the truck doesn't have major damage such as cracked head/blown head gasket before picking up more upgrades. I needed the adapter for the upper hose to run the line that used to go through the throttle body. It was capped before and wasn't ran back into the cooling system anywhere.

Thanks gents. Got everything tightened back up and fired the ol girl up.

Here is what happened...

1.) ran a hydrocarbon test and there was no change of color and very very little bubbles. Honestly think the head gaskets/heads are fine.

2.) the temp gauge is acting crazy. It goes straight to max as soon power is "on"

3.) fans are not kicking on at all

4.) the check engine light is on

5.) the truck runs fine now, but scared to take it out due to the cooling

The wheels don't fit. The back needs to be moved out about an inch and a half, and the front won't clear the hubs, so now I'm looking at spacers.dum

Also found out why the front was squeaking... The pads and rotors are damn near toast.dum

Love these trucks...
Sold my 68 GMC, been sick about it ever since.
Mine had a 468BBC w/B&M blower, 4 link, 700R, A/C, etc,etc..
Had I kept it was gonna do LS1 swap (6 mpg sucked)
