Default LS376 into a 88 Fiero

Hey gang. Just starting my build thread. Ive been here for a few years with a 2005 GTO, but I sold it and started my new "build". Im putting a GM Perf LS3 "Hot Cam" (LS376) and 5 speed into my 1988 Fiero. I know im not the first, and I hope not the last, but I just wanted to start a thread and update it when I get a chance. Pictures soon.

That's V8Archie you're thinking of. Go join Pennock's Fiero Forum, and Real Fiero Tech.

update. Finally some pics.

Car: 88 coupe w/ GT rear clip. Factory TTOP car (1 of 1252)
Motor: LS3 (LS376) Hot cam motor w/ 480hp.
Trans: 5 speed Getrag.

Lots of ideas for it, but for now, I just want to get it up and running.

Update. Motor swap is done, and the car is a beast. 480hp in a 2600lb car. can you spell go-cart.

More pics of the install.

it only uses an Auto Trans. No one has really got the 5-6 speed worked out yet. Plus V8 Archie has a kit to put any LS into a fiero, so the hard work is already done. If I was into auto trans, I would have went with the LS4.

Cool swap, for some strange reason, I'd like to see a side by side of a solstice/fiero on the slalom coarse. Both look like they'd be a blast to drive.

Norm, the shop that did this (V8Archie) does the LS3 Solstice too. I drove in his shop car. Its a blast to drive in, but gets real "Tail happy". With no weight over the rear axle, when you get on it, the tail end just goes sideways. Lots of fun, but a lot of "work" to drive it hard. With the Fiero, the motor/trans is over the drive wheels, so it does not go sideways on you.

Saab 6 speed works. It has been done in a Grand Prix.

OMG LINK PLEASE!!! Is the Saab the same tranny as a G6?

What Tranny did you end up using? What are you going to do for interior and body mods?

Hmm I'm not sure if there are even any pics around the net lol. I can ask the owner for some. Wasn't my car but a friends. The swap is EXPENSIVE let me say that off the bat. It might still be for sale actually. IIRC for $4,000. Looks like it came from the factory like that though.

Tried to PM you, but your inbox is full!

Go-cart ONLY IF you use the '88 suspension. Far better than the '84-'87 Fieros.

I hope you don't mind that I picked this up for LSXtv, and linked back... People are loving the car on our Facebook page, for sure.
