Default A few questions (gbody)

hello im new here i have been visiting here quite often because of the vast information about LS related information

i have a 83 chevy malibu wagon i am putting a 4.8 and 700r4 into and i have 2 questions to ask

1 - i have read alot about adapters and flexplates and the like on how to adapt the ls to old style tranny now the most accessible option to me would be the TCI flexplate i dont recall the part # but its advertised as what i think need to make the adaption work.

does anyone know if that flexplate from tci is all i need to make it work is it that simple i know they say its .035" thicker does this mean i dont need the spacer?

2 - Now as far as the fuel system goes i was planning on sumping the stock tank and running an external efi pump

the tank is so low that the pump is probably going to be above it and approx 18-24" away at the most is this going to cause a problem with the pump ? i know how the pump should be below the sump but i dont think i can do that is this going to be a problem?

* i have been reading pages in the conversion section its amazing how much the Ls is spanning into

You will also need a spacer for the convertor so it will reach the crankshaft. The cheapest and easiest to install is the one made by Hughes Performance. It just slips into the end of the crank and you're set. You also have to have a way to connect the TV cable if you're going to run a 700-R4. If your motor is DBW you will have problems with the TV cable as there is place to connect it. If that's the case, you would be better off to use a 4L60E. With the 4L60E, you could also do away with the crank spacer.
