Question My 83 Chevy Pickup conversion - a few questions

I am putting a 5.3 ls engine with a T-56 Magnum transmission into my 83 chevy truck. It currently has a 10-bolt rear end with 3.08 gears. Is this rear end too weak to use with a manual? If so, what should i put in to replace the original?

-Thanks!

Depends on how many miles the rear has. Is it all original or has it been rebuilt? If its in good condition then you'll have no worries, but if its questionable, then at the very least, remove the cover, look at the fluid and inspect the guts. Install new cover gasket and fresh fluid, and keep th ebuild process moving along.

It probably has over 200,000 miles on it, to my knowledge it has never been rebuilt. I'll take a good look at it and see if it needs rebuilt.

-thanks
