My cam choices for 2010 6.0L VVT L96--watcha think?
Well--as those following my build know I have a 2010 6.0L VVT truck motor out of a Silverado, code L96 which is just an LY6 w/flexfuel. Trying to find a cam to replace mine that had a bit of rust from previous water injestion courtesy of the junkyard.
1. Called comp cams, and they tell me they don't support this engine since the flexfuel has different ECM rqmts (hmmm?).
2. Called Mast. They acknowledge they have never done an L96, but had great success w/LY6--suggest if I'm getting ECM reprogrammed I should be fine. Say I might need to change injectors; I asked on another thread and initial response is I should be fine. Mast says w/low lift I can stay w/stock pushrods and valvesprings, but need the comp cams phaser kit.
3. Called TSP. They also have never supported an L96, but even though comp cams says they don't support, TSP recommended I go w/comp cams 214/228 VVT friendly cam and valvesprings (PAC 1218) and pushrods are a must.
Well, I like the Mast answer since I wouldn't have to mess w/valvesprings pushrods, and I'm not going to be spending time above 6000 very often if ever.
Thoughts? Any other choices? Anybody know of anyone w/an L96 that has actually swapped cams (while keeping vvt)?

cam
I went with the tsp vvt-2 came and I am very happy with it, they have a vvt-1 cam that might live with the stock springs and push rods but I wiuld uppgrade them any way. You say you wont spin it hard but wait till it pulls into the rev limiter like a madman and see what you think!! Im not a fan of mast because they dont support oem computers, if you buy thier computer they will help you tune it otherwise your on your own. Texas speed has been great to deal with.
