LSx and 4l60e transmission compatibility for mismatching years
I have a 2006 LM7 with ecm, harness, tac, and drive by wire pedal (all from 2006). I still need a transmission and am looking for a 4L60e and dropping the whole thing into my Jeep Wagoneer.
Do I need to find a 2006 transmission or will other years work too? If earlier years are not compatible, what are the differences?
I'm only concerned with the compatibility between engine and transmission. I realize I will have to deal with speedometer, linkage, transfer case, and other issues mating it to the Jeep but that is for another day. I just want to buy the right transmission.

The transmission needs to be a 1996 or newer that has PWM cast in the front pump. If it came from a Gen I / II V8 or 4.3 V6 you will need the spacer while the Gen III / IV V8's don't. Gen III / IV transmissions have the top bolt hole in the bell housing while earlier models do not. Additional information is in my build topic on post #5.
