LS1 / T56 DD e28 BMW Build

I ended up clearing the lips....I don't want to have to deal with cleaning them.
Got the wheels all together, tires mounted, and on the car...I need to get some paint mixed up to match the centers so I can paint the center caps. LOVE them!
I am going to swap out the heater core this week as the current one is really leaking. I am also trying to get the cruise to work without much luck so far....

Made a 600+ mile round trip to tedfest in canada. Got 25mpg with 3 guys in the car, AC on, and a trunk full of tools. I am happy with that and I think I can get a little more out with adjusting the tune.
I really didn't take any pictures of my own car...my buddy took one right when we got there.

nice thread, ive been doing loads of research on a e24 ls1 swap. your the 3rd person that ive seen a ls1 e24/e28 swap. my motor is waiting to be put in but no mounts or drop in headers
after mounts im tackling the D-shaft and then I have a VAC adjustable trailing arm kit. powder coat the subframe. im going to also reinforce the rubber diff mount where all the grunt is tugging on the body with one bolt... what was BMW thinking lol
exhaust im not worried about yet
the adaptations for AC and PS have me scratching my head a little.
how do you get your RPM pulse on the factory cluster?
the engine harness is also the fun part but unlike yours i want my harness going back into the car exactly where the DME originally sits.
I also have another step than your swap, i have to relocate the Abs pump.

benz-bimmerman: The tech signal comes from the PCM and is sent to the tach just like the BMW dme did. I had to change the programming in HPTuners to get it to read right.
Is the ABS pump in the passenger side little well up near the AC drier? If so you should be able to leave it where it is.
I was going to put the PCM in the stock location but it is so much bigger than the BMW dme so living in the engine bay is where it is. Factory Gm puts it in the engine bay so...it is fine. The GTO placement is under the brake master cylinder and close to the exhasut manifolds.
I sent you a PM by the way.
BudRacing: thanks! I really enjoy doing them and the end result. I am working on a e12 with a cammed lq4 right now. I actually sold the volvo 240 to a coworker as I had to many cars. But in the mean time I did pick up a classic mini and plan to swap a honda engine into it.
More information on the LQ4 e12 here....

my abs is infront of the booster but i was thinking of moving the battery to the trunk like a M6 and relocate the ABS pump to where the battery is now.

Nice build work on the E28
Nice job on the hedder and exhaust system fab work.
Did you ever get the cruise to work?
If you do not mind me asking - who did your drive shaft and what did it cost?
I am on my 3rd bimmer (88 535iS (totaled -, not forgotten), 88 325iS gone, and now my E34 535i, going on 9 years, great car, but underpowered). I will be building my mod'd 92 E34 (lowered HR springs, KYB, RD M5 bars, brake /suspension/exhaust mods). The 315K M30 is toast.
I am going to do almost the same DD build (LS 5.3 and WC-T5 - "in stock"), less the big $$ as my wife, 2 kids, 2 big dogs & house eat most of my dough. I have a partial LS engine, and will probably have to find a wrecked Fbody /Silverado or a good deal on a compete LS engine to build for my project.
Thanks for the build ideas and pics.
