Thanks for the compliments. I never did get a chance to mess with the AC compressor. I'll mess with it this winter on one of the spare blocks that are sitting around. I'll be sure to post up plenty of pics when I do.

I lost 3rd and 4th last night while playing with a friend's Grand National. I'll have it built one more time and if that doesn't last, its time to figure out how to fit an 80e in the stock trans tunnel.

With the setback plates and 44 yr old body bushing, I already had to BFH the tunnel just a bit at the bellhousing bolts. I really really really want to do an 80e without cutting, but I know my chances are slim. New body bushings will be a must, and I'll even be willing to add some shims (basically do a body lift) to a reasonable extent. Ideally, I'll add some TM back in and make the 60e live.

Short answer: No, I haven't touched the trans yet.
Long story: I hate to say it, but I really didn't do much with the car at all this season. Looking back it should've been prioritized higher. My wife and I are expecting our first child in about 2 months, so I spent most of the summer freaking out about that and trying to tie up other lose ends around the house and property.
My wife is pretty awesome, though, so hopefully I'll have the time and initiative to work on it (along with a couple other shop projects) through the winter.
I tossed some parts for my Impala SS build under the hood of the GTO... its a pipe dream, but they sure do look good under there.

Dreams are the first step toward reality. Congrats on the new addition to the family. Don't freak out, all will fall into place. This coming from a 3 time grandpa.
I know about the time crunch, I only put 1100 miles on mine this entire year. How disappointing!

It feels good to have some updates for this thread! Automotion was again the driving force behind getting some wrench time in on the GTO, and I now have the car back up and better than before.
I swapped out the smoked 60e and SS3600 for a "built" 60e and SS4000 from my WS6, played with the trans tune a lot, and got the car running pretty strong. While it was on jackstands I addressed a bunch of other small issues I put off last year (swapped stock saggy rear springs for Hotchkis, fixed some wiring issues, replaced leaky OEM oil pressure sender, sealed intake rocker bolts from the PnP head job, etc).
This car successfully made the 550+ mile weekend round trip without needing to open the tool box. There are still a ton of small projects and improvements I "need" to do, but as of now it running and driving really well, and I hope to put a lot of miles on the car this summer.

I'm overdue for an update. The "new" trans has been doing its job well and I've been driving the car pretty much whenever the weather allows. The SS4000 stall is plenty loose for my taste, but its not unbearable for what the car is.
The GTO made the first two legs of HRPT. On the first day my parents and my niece took the Judge, my brother and his boy took his '72 Cheyenne Super, and I was in my '96 Impala (a/c was a requirement, lol) with my wife and 3 month old boy. The second day I loaded up the GTO with a buddy, his boy, and his dad for STL. Other than learning I need to upgrade the fans for hour+ standing traffic, it did great.
This past weekend I made the 4 hour round trip to the Cordova 1/4 mile for a local street car shootout. I knew I had no chance at any awards, but it was still a great time. The car took a beating with a lot of the 16 passes being hotlaps, and drove home with no issues.
The 12.4 @ 108 mph shows how much room I have to grow in the tune based on my mods... it is currently tuned to be safe and driveable, but no where near full potential.
This outing has me rethinking what direction to take the car, and now I'm leaning towards a set of 15's with some 295 MT dr's, change up the suspension, and get it to hook and book in the 1/4 mile. We'll see what this winter brings. As of now, this is how she sits:

I love the classic polished 5-spoke look of the Boyd Coddington Smoothie II's, but the width and offset have always bothered me. They were sucked too far into the fenders, and the 8" rears killed my options for drag radials. After a LOT of deliberation considering budget, tire selection, look for the car, and refusing to settle for cast wheels, I settled on the Billet Specialties Street Lites with black face. They're light, made in the USA, look amazing, and are surprisingly affordable for what they are.
Sizes:
17x8 front with 245/45r17
17x9.5 rear with 295/45r17 MT drag radials
Great site to come home to:

I'm trying to find an upper radiator hose that will fit my LS. I'm using that flex style now and it is trying to pull the hose from my radiator. What's the part number or make/model you found that worked for yours?

Finally got the Judge out and put some miles on it this weekend. We made it to CnC Saturday morning, then a Pontiac cruise-in at Chenoa early Sunday afternoon, and then headed right to the Paradise cruise-in in East Peoria. We established that the rear facing car seat fits fine, and vomit (from my 15 month old son) cleans off the leather seats very easily.
oldgoat, tell me I'm seeing things on lat-g, and that you didn't just sell your vert!
