Default LS3 t56 swap into a 94 transam problems

ok so the engine is in the car and when i went to bolt up the tranny to the bellhousing against the block theres about a half an inch gap. The tranny came out of a 96 ws6 but i swapped out the bellhousing, the front plate, and the input shaft for ls1 stuff the clutch im using is an ls7. Could the pilot bearing be causing this?

Are you using the large pilot bearing that presses into the outer section of crankshaft end? If so, you need the smaller bearing that presses into the second groove. You gain about 1/2" of distance and that is what you need.

Do you have a part number or are they the same P/N? one of the pilot bears are for an auto and one is for a t56 right? the engine came out of a 6speed car. But i will check on that thanks

An auto does not use a pilot bearing. You are probably just hitting the guides that stick out of the belhousing. The correct pilot bearing is only about 3/4 " across If its more like 2" then its a LS3 bearing and will need to be replaced

You need an Ls1 style pilot bearing. Ls3 style wont work with the input shaft if thats what you have now,
