79 c10, mounts and driveshaft question
Hey all, Im Tony.
My truck is a 79 c10 short bed step side
the motor, I will be using a 4.8l lr4 and a 4l80 from an 05 van.
My question resides with the motor mounts and the driveshaft.
Im using the stock rear end, its a 28 spline 10 bolt if i recall correctly..
The motor mounts Im looking at are the trans-dapt 4592 kit with new mounts included - http://www.jegs.com/i/Trans+Dapt/969/4592/10002/-1
Does anyone have experience dropping a driveshaft from something factory, or am I going to need to get something made? I remember reading someone using a 00 tahoe shaft on a square body and it worked?
The ujoints look much different on the existing driveshaft compared to whats going into the trans, the old is MUCH smaller. Would i use an adapted u joint? Or ..? Whats some of my other options?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I think your best bet will be to get yours modified or just get one built. Don't know what trans you have know, but the 4L80 is most likely longer. Even if your plates set the motor forward, the 4L80 has a 32 spline output shaft, which again you most likely don't have currently. I had a steel DS made for my truck with new yoke and U joints. It was about 300 shipped to my door.

My original plans were to go that route, just wanted to test the waters and see some options.
Thanks!
