THE BULLS 41 Chevy p/u Rat Rod
#61
You need to hurry up and get this handicapped hamster rod on the road so I can blow it's doors off in my orange cavalier!
Just flip the cab around. Front wheel drive rear engine.
Oh $h¡T!!!......
Just kidding. I know it's backward compared to about every levee vehicle out there. One reason is because at ride height the rear of the truck is significantly higher (like some original Rat Fink rats) in which case it is more efficient to have the sump of the cell where I have it. I do understand that one of the main reasons it is suggested to have the lines in the rear is to avoid being sprayed with gas if you were rear ended but lets face it, if I'm rear ended in this thing hard enough to break the 2x4x3/16 fish plated frame it's not gonna matter where those lines are.

under hard acceleration and with a partial load of fuel, it is possible to pull the fuel away from the outlets and starve the pump/engine. putting them in the rear avoids this and under hard braking, it's not as critical to momentarily starve for fuel. but if you never let it get below 1/3 -1/4 might not be a problem.

£uck it! I'm just gonna take the cell out and hook the fuel line straight to a nitrous bottle.
@cornbread23, we'll see you at the power tour. Will post vid of the result

I've been doing a whole lot of little stuff but definately seeing the light at the end of the tunnel
Took the stock pedal and notched it with a grinder. Then welded it back after I bent it. Had to make room in a tiny space but it worked out well
Shortened the stock steering column out of the blazer
Then welded up the hanger and bolted it with some grade 8's
Got the brake booster / master cylinder in and the steerig shaft and borgeson joint. Looks like Im gonna need another joint.
Got the trans cooler mounted and plumbed in also

Got the gas pedal installed along with Lokar throttle cable. Cable was a little tricky since I'm using the stock truck water pump. I actually turned the brass fitting around and slid it in the other side of the little hole, fed the cable into it and then tightened the allen screw. Worked fine.

Got a good little bit done today. Front support for the radiator and the pipes.
Took some 3/16 flat metal, notched, bent then welded to make lower and upper brackets. Then cut up an old mud flap from work to use for dhock protection
Bought some 2 1/2" pipe cut it at 43" long, then sliced, bent and welded it back

Need wiring help
Im using the column out of the 89 blazer and was wondering if anyone could help me with figuring out how to handle using the original ignition and key since I do have it. There is wiring coming out of the bottom of the column but I no jack about wiring so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Got it kicking tonight for the first function and road test. Probably the most exciting thing Ive ever built for sure! Sorry the vids are dark but couldnt resist getting on pavement. My wife wouldnt keep the film rolling so there is a couple parts. Also keep in mind this is only a FUNTION TEST and it is not tuned so please dont laugh like my ever so caring wife decides to do in the vid of it coming out of the garage. Lol

SWEET! Sounds awesome man, a little tuning and she'll run like a top. It wasn't as loud as I expected with short straight pipes either. You might consider getting headlights before anymore midnight cruises
You are making me jealous! I want to hear my 5.3 Nova run so bad! Keep hauling on that thing and I want some daylight videos. Good work man!
