Are you concerned with the first gear ratio with the 373's? I am considering a similar setup but I have 411"s. Car looks great, I also love the gold.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm thinking about going 3.08 or even 2.73 but want to put some miles on her first.

I went with 3.23 gears in my car. I have 26" tall tires. With the low first gear in the 6L80 you really do not need lower gears in the differential.

Just installed a 6l80 with 373s , just working a few minor bugs out . Also I did use the g 8 pan and a trans cooler with its own fan.I will give some feedback when I get a few miles on the new setup. JOHN

Nick - I bought an engine/trans harness from PSI to keep things simple. I got my 6L80E out of a '10 Escalade. I'd stick with the 2wd truck trans since you can use a 4L80E slip yoke with it. I believe they are in '08 and newer GM trucks.

John - Definitely keep us posted, hope all goes well with it

Made a little progress lately. Decided not to get the trans built just yet, gonna run it stock for a while and let my tuner work his magic on it. Flexplate, Circle-D convertor and trans all installed now. Gonna give the factory Escalade transcooler lines a shot, should be able to use most of the lines. Dont think I'll have room for the stock dipstick, waiting on my new body bushings to get in to start doing some trial fitting/tunnel cutting. May go with a black Lokar one. Installed the Wegner accessories and they look great, hopefully they work just as well Was using short/wide motor mounts but my tie rods were hitting on full steering lock so gave the tall/narrow ones a shot. No more hitting the pan on lock, then had to space up my trans mount (just stock one flipped around backwards) 3/8" to compensate. Gotta put -06 ends on the fuel line and might mock up the exhaust shortly as well.

Yeah, on my 65 Skylark there just was not enough room to run the factory transmission dipstick with my 6L80. I ordered the black Lokar unit. When the car is up an running I plan on having the "Corvette" tune down loaded to my 6L80. Also with the Covette tune it will be easier to add the TUTD feature if I ever decide to do it. I ran the wire from the trans to up under the dash just incase.

I want to give the TUTD a shot as well, will come in handy if/when I want to do some autocrossing I think. Stall is 2600-2800, heard the 6L80s/90s like lower stalls plus going FI with small turbos so hoping it makes for a good combo.

Drove the car about 15 miles today to my friends shop for an inspection and to charge the ac . transmission feels good . Its kind of weird only because I do not have a tunnel so you can hear( and see ) everything . when the trans shifts under normal acceleration it seems like the engine almost eases off the throttle for a milisecond but when you get on it it doesnt seem like it does it or I cant notice it ( torque management ? ) . it shifts smooth and goes through the gears rather quickly . no stats on mileage being that my spedo is not hooked up yet . also hooked up a stand alone trans cooler with its own fan.JOHN

Well, my body mounts finally came in today so I figured I would try to get the body back on this weekend. Patience is overrated though...

Its no fun when you only have a couple floor jacks, some jackstands and wheel dollies, just gotta get creative.

Patience is a difficult virtue on LS swaps

Are you running the factory PWM pump control or Vaporworx's unit?

Slowly but surely she's coming together. I need to pickup core support bushings so I can throw that bad boy on and start bolting the front end together. Guess thats it for now

Hey man. Using that same chassis in a 1949 Chevy truck. Are you having oil pan Clarence with the steering arms hitting the oil pan? And what motor mounts did you use??? Thanks!
