Default Neutral Safety Switch...........

So......Again I gonna ask this question here to guy's that are a lot smarter than me.........In my 66 Impala (column shift) with an LS2 4L/65e conversion..........My question is.......Is there a stock column shift GM 700R4 neutral safety switch that puts the start function in sync with the trans and will bolt into a stock column......Right now I always have to make sure it's in Park before starting.....the neutral position (stock Powerglide switch) is actually in drive.........Just one of those things that needs to get resolved before there is an issue.........As always ........Thanks in advance

Ken

That's always been a problem on installs into older cars, the detents in the column are not set up for overdrives a d thus the NSS is off too. On my truck im building now, I decided to to for go the switch on the column that I knew would be a problem, and used the one mounted on the side of the trans. It wouldn't be the easiest way for you to go though because I don't think the shift shaft on the trans is long enough to accept it. But if you canr find an easier option, you could always swap it out with a truck shaft that will. Just a thought. Good luck Ken.

Ken, look at a 69-70 Malibu/Chevelle or Nova with a column shift turbo 350. The detents should be real close to what you need.....

If you want to try one for a 350 turbo, and this looks like it will work on your column, PM me your address and I'll send it to you.

Does the 4L65E have different detents than the 4L60E? Mine works in my cutlass which originally had a 2 speed jeyaway. I'm using the original factory mechanical linkage untouched. PRN are dead on & OD lands on the original D position on the dash indicator.

Use a g-body column, if you can, and you'll have the neutral safety switch on the column.
