Great start to your project! I am going to be putting a lq4 into my 67 GS400 also. Couple questions for you, what motor mounts did you use and how well do they fit? Also what headers are you using and how well did they fit? I'm sure I will have more questions as your build goes on, so keep us up to date! I'm really looking forward to how your setup comes out.

Nice to see another buick guy. I used prothane ls motor mount kits from summit racing. I went with the short & wide. I used buick 350 frame pads. I was trying to keep the engine as low as I could so the truck intake would fit under the hood. But had to shim up the frame pads 1/2'' to clear the steering. The truck intake wont fit under the hood. I went with the racing innovation and supply shorty headers on ebay. I just test fit them yesterday and they looked like they would fit great. Hope this helps.

Thanks. It still has the original buick straight eight in it. It hasnt been running in 15+ years but it ran fine when parked. Im going to try to get it running and use that engine for a little while.

Picks are too small for me to see the height of the intake and the design of the pan. The trick is to get the lowest profile pan and move the engine back and/or up until it clears when the steering is turned to its extremes.

Thanks for giving me some ideas on what I need! I will definitely be watching for how this comes out and what other parts end up working good for you. Keep the pictures coming!

for some reason I cant get the pics to load bigger. But I shimed the engine up and went with a carbed victor jr intake for now. Im going to save up for a fast 92mm or 102mm intake.

Well I am finally back working on the car again. The project came to a screaming halt when the wife and I decieded to put up a pole barn this spring. Now that the weather is starting to get colder I have time to start working on it again. I now have a ls-6 intake and I have a water pump off my 01 Camaro. It looks like I will need to swap out the crank pully as well because the truck pull doesn't seem to line up. I also have a set of 317 heads to swap on to the LQ4.

Yes, the truck DBW throttle body will work with the LS6 intake. But the PCV system needs to be routed appropriately(search LQ9 PCV LS6 intake), and you would need to grab an LS1 waterpump that has the outlet on the front instead of the top. I did this with mine and am very happy.

I also moved my engine very far back(see the firewall cutout), but not far enough back because my tie rod zerks fitting poked a hole in the corned of the oil pan. I have since repaired the oil pan and limited steering travel until I can raise the engine a few mm's.

Jetmech442 did you have to change your crank pully when you installed the other water pump? Mine don't seem to line up. I pulled the pump off my 01 Camaro. Also is there a fitting to go from the barb on the fuel rail to a threaded fitting or did you guys do something different?

They make spacers you can put behind the waterpump to aline pully, there is also the 2010 camaro waterpump that alines pully and puts the outlet on the drivers side. Are you running the truck alt/ps setup? I have an LY6 with VVT so I had to keep the space behind the waterpump due to it. I had to build a spacer to space out the corvette alt/ps bracket. Not sure how far you pushed engine back(my right hed is about 1 inch off factory firewall) but my PS res is only about 2 inches from the fan shroud, so very limited room up front for the CAI.... Yes on the fuel fitting, Russel fitting, factory barb to AN6

Thanks for the reply on the fittings. I don't have ps on my car. I did take the crank pully and alt off my Camaro. I think I'm going to look for an alt relocation bracket to get the alt higher.

I have PS grearbox you can have, you would need steering arm as I robbed it for jeep unit(higher gear ratio). It was working when removed, comes with rag joint and factory lines. Pay for the shipping and its yours. I'm in Calgary this week, so I could ship on the weekend. I live in Tampa FL and working in Akron OH next week if either are close enough to pick it up, not sure where you live.

Thanks but I like the manual steering. It handles just as good as a ps setup and one less thing for the engine to turn.

Just wondering if I can use my stock gas Pedal for a DBC setup or do I need a different pedal?

My is DBW, so I'm not sure, I would think someone has adapted a cable somehow. If you go DBW a couple of new holes in the firewall and a couple of pulleys bolted to the arm of the new gas pedal, makes it look and feel just like factory.

Well its been a long time coming but I just got the car going about 3-4 weeks ago. Iv been out driving it as much as I can. I ended up going with the Holley HP EFI system. I had to change over to an LS1 because the LQ4 I had was a 2000 and had the built on shim on the crank so I couldn't run my flywheel. The only issues im having is with the idle bouncing from 400-1100 when I come to a stop, and it taking about 5 seconds of cranking over to fire. The only thing that I would really like to get figured out is the idle issue. I have noticed if I just put the car in neutral while slowing to a stop and hit the gas for a second at about 1200-1500rpm it idles down fine, but if I shift down and push the clutch in at 1500rpm it bounces for about 20 seconds. I have done a search and found the same issue for other people with the holley system and a couple suggestions but the thread ends without saying if they fixed the issue and how. Does anyone know what to try? Also is there a way to get the gauges on my laptop like you can get with the holley touchscreens? The only thing I can see is the small sensor box at the bottom of the screen but I would like to put up a gauge cluster to see.
