New Hooker 2nd-gen F-body LS swap components now released

Can you post a better underneath shot of the driver-side head, particularly the area where it comes closest to the cross member? I'll trade you with a pic of mine. The goal here is to see whether the headers will clear a corvette batwing pan in a late 2nd gen. I'm 99% sure the passenger side will clear.
As you know, I'm the oddball here, but this would be a good selling point. To my knowledge, the only set that fits is no longer manufactured and also hangs a bit low.

Call me crazy, but I think there is a very strong chance it will fit. It looks like your engine and trans are in the same exact position as mine. Did you have to notch the body cross brace near the shifter? I cut into mine about an inch, and then boxed it with a small piece of 1/8 inch plate. I'll try to get my car on a lift next week and snap a few pics for you.

Yes, the fore/aft positioning of our mounting components requires slight notching of the body brace, as you had to do, when installing a T56 but not with the automatic. Another proprietary design feature of our components is that they chassis-center the engine and transmission in the subframe (like DSE, Morrison, Martz and many other aftermarket subframes or pro-built chassis do) instead of using the stock 3/8" passenger side offset. 1st-gen Camaro small blocks were also set-up this way with only the Big Blocks being offset to the passenger side and forward for fitment from the factory. This is precisely the reason why these headers will not install with any other form of engine mount or transmission crossmember. You will need to factor this geometric deviation into your measuring to determine if your batwing pan will fit.
If a car has the 3/8 inch passenger side offset, does mean your passenger side header may contact the frame? As you can see in the upper right corner of this old pic, my current set comes pretty close.

Got it. You make a very good point with regard to centering and I'll definitely do some careful meansuring. I'm certain center offset is a factor on mine, as I had to hunt down and modify an Olds 403 style shaker to conpensate for it. Otherwise, my shaker wouldn't center in the hood. The Olds shaker has a very obvious offset for the carb hole, compared to the sbc and pontiac shakers.

Todd, thanks. I have the dirty dingo EZ mounts that are adjustable. I ended up buying the mid-length headers and will be installing them this upcoming weekend. I am confident enough that they will fit that I placed the order. Also, how do we take advantage of the 50th anniversary metal sign if we bought them from Jegs or Summit Racing?
I will post up pictures of the headers once they are installed. I went with the larger 1 7/8" primary tube headers. I plan to do heads, cam and intake in the future and don't want to have to swap the headers out again.

As far as the metal sign is concerned, I'm not sure how that works as I'm an engineer here and don't have anything to do with sales related offers such as that one...I suggest you just place a call to our Techservice Dept. to get the low-down on that.
Good luck

I took a chance since Jegs is offering a free shipping deal. So if they don't fit I can return them for the cost of shipping back to Jegs. I hope I don't need to send them back, I have a good feeling that they will fit. I received them today, and may end up test fitting them tonight.

I got my Hooker Mid-length headers yesterday. I got too excited when I saw the boxes that I had to test fit them last night. I am overall very happy with the fitment and much happier about the ground clearance!! The passenger's side fit perfectly and I was actually was able to be installed through the top! The driver's side isn't going to be a direct bolt in as it slightly contacts the engine clamshell mount. It needs to be notched slightly and it will clear with no issues. I will modify the mount over the weekend and install the headers.
Here are the pictures of the headers and the fitment for the passenger's side.

Not sure why the flickr pictures aren't showing up for me, but here is a link to the photos on my build thread.

Although they will physically bolt to the heads, their geometry is not a good match to the raised ports of LS7 heads, which require LS7 specific flanges to keep from introducing a step at the roof at the port when the headers are installed. We have a 71' Camaro here right now that we are using to create a subframe drilling template to include in the kit for folks that will be installing the mounts on 70'-72' model year cars that came with frame stands. The mounts will go into production after that work in concluded, so you should see them become available between the 3rd and 4th week of next month.

Where are you at with the first gen Camaro header development? Do you have an idea as to when they will be released? Any chance you will have the prototypes available to see at LS Fest next month?
Do you know if these mid-length headers will fit a first gen?
2472-1HKR- 1-7/8" mid-length headers (silver ceramic)
Seems that the issue would be steering box clearance, right? Have you test fitted them on a first gen? Looks like they MAY fit?

What is the most common or recommended engine set back for a 6.0L into a 69 Camaro? I am using the Holley swap plate with stock location and I am tight against the firewall, even denting the trans dip stick tube.

They are making their way through the production process now. The first run of any new header is more laborious than any successive run as they have to go through a one-time build of cut fixtures to be able to trim the tubes after bending. The date I've been given by the production facility is the 23rd-25th.
